This week sees the commencement – at Pika Wiya Health Service in Port Augusta – of AHCSA’s annual six week STI screening period for Aboriginal communities throughout South Australia

Based on the successful model delivered by Nganampa Health Council since 1994, the six-week screening period promotes STI screening for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 16-35 years, alongside the promotion of opportunistic testing throughout the year, targeting those who are at higher risk of STI and BBV (re)infection.

Sexual health promotion/education is prioritised during this period to support the work of ACCHSs during the 6-week screening.
