Policy & Advocacy
Our Sector Intelligence team has a strong policy and advocacy focus, and leads initiatives to bring about systemic change to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in South Australia.
AHCSA works in close partnership with our Member Services to shape and represent the policy priorities of the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector across South Australia. Our role is to listen, consult, and ensure that the perspectives, expertise and aspirations of our Members directly inform our advocacy and engagement.
We actively seek Member input to guide the development of policy positions, submissions and sector responses. Through structured consultation, regular engagement, and ongoing feedback loops, we ensure our advocacy reflects the real and emerging priorities of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
AHCSA represents these collective priorities at local, state and national levels, advocating for meaningful and systemic change that strengthens Community control and improves health outcomes.
Our vision is clear: strong, self-determining Aboriginal communities across South Australia, supported by a responsive and well-resourced Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector.
By grounding our policy work in Member-led priorities, we ensure their voices remain central in government decision-making, funding reform, and broader health system transformation.
