The 2026 Closing the Gap Annual Data Compilation Report was released 29 July and shows mixed progress across National Agreement targets, with only 1 of the 19 Targets have been met. Improvements were reported in areas such as life expectancy and healthy birth weight, while challenges remain in adult imprisonment, child development, out-of-home care and suicide rates. The report also reinforces the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-governed data in supporting accountability and self-determination.
The Emergency Activation Framework is intended to support South Australian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health/substance misuse Services to respond to disasters and emergencies impacting Aboriginal communities. It has been adapted with permission from work by the AH&MRC.
This Toolkit was adapted from one produced by the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of NSW, in collaboration with their Member Services. It includes a template with specific activities that SA ACCHS’s should consider.
