Umoona Tjutagku Health Service (UTHSAC) provides medical, dental and social services to Aboriginal people in and around Coober Pedy. Cancer-related support includes health checks, women’s and men’s health programs, chronic disease management, health promotion and screening activities, and access to visiting specialists, including allied health. Aboriginal Health Workers act as a cultural interface between clients and GPs to ensure culturally appropriate treatment and care. They work closely with transport support and social and emotional wellbeing services to help clients navigate appointments, treatment pathways and travel for care outside Coober Pedy.
