Taikurrinthi Aboriginal Unit at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital provides culturally safe support to Aboriginal people accessing care, including those affected by cancer. Aboriginal Liaison Officers support families throughout the cancer journey, from diagnosis and treatment through to recovery, emotional support and palliative care. Liaison Officers act as cultural brokers between families and hospital staff, ensuring medical, practical and cultural needs are understood and met. Taikurrinthi also offers a safe and welcoming space where Aboriginal patients, families and visitors can gather, connect and receive support while attending the hospital.
