Health Informatics

The Health Informatics Coordinator works with AHCSA Member Services across a number of health data and quality improvement processes. Supports range from improving Communicare health information systems and data literacy to using data analytics to improve access to timely health information. AHCSA also collaborates across teams to optimise quality improvement systems for individual programs.

Data innovations

We are developing quality improvement dashboards using Power BI to rethink how we interact with health data. Data Models allow Services to visualise, filter and analyse their health data.

Better access to health information

AHCSA have partnered with Member Services to create a state-wide population health data repository. This will allow for AHCSA to better represent Member needs at state and national levels.

SA ACCHS Data Strategy

We are implementing a three-year data strategy that maps out what we want to achieve to better support Member Services, and the key objectives for getting there.

By implementing these processes, we hope to achieve a number of important positive outcomes for AHCSA and Member Services. This includes automated collection and timely access to health information; improved data literacy and interaction with health information, and the use of accurate data to inform policy and quality improvement at local, state and national levels.

The Health Informatics Coordinator, in collaboration with other key AHCSA staff, provides the following areas of support for Member Services:

  • Data literacy support
  • Data analysis and software training
  • National KPI and other reporting functions
  • Ongoing engagement and upkeep of the AHCSA PAT CAT Program
  • Using Power BI to support quality improvement
  • Expertise around data systems and innovation
  • Supporting other AHCSA programs with data-related processes
