OUR PROGRAMS
The Tackling Smoking and Healthy Lifestyle (TS&HL) program promotes a range of healthy lifestyle choices that can reduce the risk of chronic disease. The team delivers events, activities and information sessions on how to make and maintain healthier lifestyle choices by:
AHCSA’s TS&HL team currently services the Yorke Peninsula and Eyre Peninsula regions. There are a number of regional Tackling Smoking and Healthy Lifestyle teams around the state who operate out of:
The AHCSA TS&HL team has a Puyu Blaster Healthy Lifestyle and Anti-Smoking Campaign that promotes local role models (pictures or link to campaign material, link to the DVD or online video of ambassadors). In sharing knowledge about healthy lifestyles, our ambassadors inspire and encourage all of us to eat healthily, exercise regularly or make a quit attempt.
The healthy hero, Puyu Blaster attends events with the team to spread healthy messages about not smoking, exercising and eating healthy food
If you are looking for some inspiration for cooking healthy meals have a look at the 20 Healthy Feeds Cookbook (link or pictures, flip book online, or where you can get a copy), which is made up of recipes from members of our Aboriginal communities around South Australia.
For more information on smoking, exercise and healthy eating, visit the Keep It Corka Facebook page.
If you have a question or need some support to quit smoking contact our Tackling smoking and Healthy lifestyle team at AHCSA on (08) 82737200. Alternatively, you can visit your local Aboriginal Health Team or you can call Quitline on 13 78 48 and ask to speak to an Aboriginal counsellor if you prefer.
For further information on the AHCSA Tackling Smoking and healthy lifestyle program please contact Mary- Anne Williams (Tackling Smoking and Healthy Lifestyle Team Leader) on 08 8273 7200.
