Nathan Rigney

Nathan is a Ngarrindjeri man, currently living and working on Kaurna Yerta. He has deep cultural and community connections and has worked in the health sector for nearly 15 years. Over the years, he has developed his leadership capabilities, working across Tackling Indigenous Smoking (including Quitline and Quitskills), cancer prevention, health promotion, and public health.

Nathan has spent the past 5 years leading and supporting groundbreaking policy, including the South Australian Aboriginal Health Promotion Strategy 2022-2030 and the SA public sector Anti-Racism Strategy. 

Nathan is passionate about embedding cultural determinants and Health in All Policies into program and policy design, and creating culturally safe environments for Aboriginal people, whether they be staff or community members engaging with services.He brings executive leadership experience from the public sector, where he established the new Aboriginal Health and Health Equity division at Preventive Health SA.

Nathan holds formal public health and counselling qualifications, which he will apply to his leadership role at AHCSA to support our sector and members in achieving the greatest impact on health outcomes for our mob.
